I had surgery on a Wednesday and had my first shower Friday, but was allowed by my PS to take a shower as soon as Thursday.

I decided to wait the extra day though.

I try to maximimize the comfort of my patients after surgery.  For my typical male chest sculpture, I use a special dressing that permits my patients to have a light shower 24 hours after surgery.  The time can vary depending on the complexity of the surgery.  You should check with your own surgeon for specifics about your own recovery.

Hope this helps,

Two days and that was it for me! The tensor and pads came off and I had a long, hot shower! Any longer than two days and I feel totally gross....

If you think about it, how could taking a shower hinder the healing process?

I say..... take a shower and be clean!  ;)
