Read how Dr. Jacobs explained the difference between gynecomastia and cancer in his blog: http://www.gynecomastia-surgeon.com/gynecomastia-and-male-breast-cancer/

Gynecomastia is the proliferation of otherwise normal tissue to a degree that is unacceptable to the person who has it. Usually there is no physical pathology connected with the presence of Gynecomastia.

Breast Cancer is a totally different matter in that it actually is abnormal and involves pathological cell growth.

Even though Breast Cancer is rare in men, it does happen. Any lumps, pain or change in the breasts should be discussed with your Dr. just to be safe.
