You shouldn't expose the scars to ANY sunlight of any kind (tanning beds included) for at least 6 months. 9 months to a year would be better.

Sunlight can cause permanent pigmentation changes in scars that are still pink and healing.

What if you are very conscious about putting high SPF sunblock on the scars?

I plan on having surgery done before summer simply for the reason that I can't stand another summer having to deal with puffy nips and big breasts at the beach.
