I had my surgery 6 months ago and I am down in the dumps.

I'm:
- 58 years old
- 5' 8"
- 150 pounds (my weight hasn't changed for many years)

Although my surgeon talked about excision and lipo at our preliminary meetings, he ended up only doing lipo.

Four weeks after surgery I was thrilled. But since then, my mobs have gotten larger and hang. I'm bummed. I was really psyched about having a flat chest.

Would revision surgery help or am I just too old?

I think about my gyne now more than ever. Sigh.

Yes you need a revision with excision this time around.  Go back to your surgeon for a follow-up visit and see if he can do it for a discounted fee.

The results reflect the fact that 58 year old skin simply does not tighten spontaneously as well as 18 year old skin -- it's a matter of the elasticity.  This result is not due to poor surgical technique -- it was predictable.  To the extent that your gyne is smaller, the surgery was a success.  To the extent that you do not have a tight, contoured chest, it was not.

In my opinion, the only way you could improve on this situation would be to excise skin to tighten it -- and that would leave scars somewhere.  It is a tough choice:  a tight chest with scars or a looser chest with no scars.

Thanks for the reply, Dr. Jacobs.

I guess its time to accept it and move on.
