I am in my ealry 50's and  going on one year (soon) for having this condition.

It is glandular that started in one breast (frist seven months) and then moved to the other.   This implies a cause though I can't find one.    First one breast was painful and now both are painful (I can live with the pain) which I am told is from the growing gland.    GP ordered breast MRI, Mamogram and sonogram.. all normal.   Went to a surgeon who said if he closed his eyes and touched my breasts he would think it was a girl with an A cup.   He said he could remove the gland.

GP sent me to a endocromalogist who took a set of blood tests for TSH, FSH, Prolactin, Total Testosterone, Free Testosteronen estradiol were with in normal range.  My LH was a little high (9.7 range was 1.5 to 9.3)

Both GP,  Endo and Surgeon found no symptoms that would suggest a cause.   The Surgeon said it you can live with it then do nothing.   He is monitoring it with regular sonograms.

I am on Zocor that has know in rare cases to cause this condition since the drug works on the liver.   I am on it for 2 years and developed condition after one.  My GP took me off (at my pushing) for 2 months.  My cholestoral started going up and he told me to go back on .  Said we do not know if drug is causing the problem but not taking the drug is hurting me.  The drug company has been no help in helping me understand how long the people on the drug took to develop
gynecomastia or once you go off when do you see benefits (if it is the drug).

I feel like I am up against a clock since i read that once the breat gland is in for a year, even if you find a cause, the gland will not get smaller.

I am looking for a recommended Endocronologist in either NYC or Long Island area.  My zip is 11710.  Someone who was been used and knew what they are doing.   I figure that new blood tests are in order and think it is time to go to a new doctor.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions

It is reasonably well known that Zocor can cause gynecomastia as a side-effect as reported in The Australian Adverse Drug Reactions Bulletin.

http://www.tga.health.gov.au/docs/html/aadrbltn/v14n3.htm

It might be possible to be prescribed an alternative drug that has not been shown to cause such side-effects, hopefully so.

All the doctors listed below are in New York and have an expressed interest in reproductive medicine.  I cannot recommend any of them personally as I do not live in the US, so If someone can give you a personal recommendation you should take that, but failing that this list is a fall back option.

If you need any further help please let me know and I'll do what I can.
