Hi everyone,
After lurking around here for sometime here is my story.

I developed gynecomastia around the age of 13/14 and like others was told that it would disappear in time. I was always very active and never carried any weight. Got to the age of 21 and thought I need to get this sorted, only to be told by a doctor to lose weight!!! I was only 13 stone and playing semi pro football!!!
Move on to last year when I turned 37, saw my new doctor who was very sympathetic and referred me to a specialist on the NHS. This guy was so dismissive, that I actually wanted to punch him in the face, my wife came with me and picked up on my frustration and commented on his attitude. He basically gave the impression that I was wasting his time. I admit that I probably have a mild case of gynecomastia, but none the less it is amazing the damage it does to your self confidence.
I have two boys who love swimming, and although I go, it is not as often as they would like.
Anyway, after much research I booked an appointment with Karidis and saw him on the 31st October. He was very informative and confirmed that I do have gynecomastia and it would look worse with losing more weight. He and his staff were very professional and made me feel at ease. Before I left I booked my surgery for the 18th December and can't wait. Only 45 days to go!!!

Hi and Welcome to the forums :)
I'm 22, had gyno since I was about your age too, I've got surgery in December with levick.  The last 2 years I've really been trying to seek advice on, firstly what I had as I didn't know what gynecomastia was, aswell as what caused it and ultimately how to get rid of it. I've lost count of the number of POINTLESS dr appointments I've had, being passed from dr to dr, having blood tests to show healthy hormone levels with no conclusion or results to speak of, being told to lose weight even though I'm healthy and slim. The ignorance and pure lack of knowledge around this condition is just wrong.. Especially from professionals. As you mentioned, doesn't matter whether you have the largest case of gyno or a mild case (like mine, like yours), how it affects your self esteem and stops you doing what ultimately makes you happy is soul destroying... But the end is in sight now, can't wait!
Gyno free :)

Congrats buddy, that time will fly. I'm 24  and booked in for surgery with karidis on 29th November. I've lived with this 12 years and wasn't even aware of this condition for 95% of that time! It's so much more then a cosmetic procedure and impossible to explain to the average Joe. Keep us updated! These boards and it's members inspired me to make a choice to change my life, hope I can play a part in helping others when my log is made =)
