Do I have gynecomastia or just moobs (fat)? I have recently become really self-conscious after I realised that I had these, I guess I just never realised before. Hopefully you can see from the photos that it's not too obvious head on, but if I turn sideways, there is a very noticeable 'breast'. Do you think it's just fat or actual breast tissue?

I have begun to work out and will try to reduce calories slightly to lose bodyfat while hopefully gaining muscle, to see if it impacts the moobs I seem to have. I know there are worst problems out there, but it just starts digging into your self confidence, especially when the weather is getting warmer- wearing tshirts etc, it becomes more noticeable.

In my opinion, yes you do have. Yous body has good physique and I cant say its puffy so it would be probably fat..
You can do excercise and a good program to loose fat and not just weight but a doctor can advise if this will make the gyno more noticeable.
If you do have hairy chest you can check if this help cover and camouflage the image.

Yes you do but it seems minor.  If it bothers you that much try losing weight and doing a crap ton of chest exercises. It won't go away but will look better. If it still bothers you get surgery.

I'd say quite moderate.  In a shirt, I'd not notice anything at all.

From what we can see in the photos you seem to have a fairly thin build without much fat.  The breast area appears somewhat rounded and the areola/nipples are a bit puffy.  So from the photos only it looks like you have a mild to moderate expression of gynecomastia.

A further check would be if you can feel stiff breast material under the skin above the pectoral muscle.  I say “stiff” rather than hard because some have thought when we say “hard” it should be like a rock.  It is breast tissue not bone.

Finally you could go to a medical doctor for a check, since several doctors on the board have said you can only tell so much from a photo.

SmokeyNYY said to exercise and diet to eliminate fat and build muscle, he is correct on that point whether you have gynecomastia or not.  Look at his posts showing his before though to after; including his exercise and diet routine.  He has probably done more than anyone on this site that I know of to bring his chest into great shape.  He proves that a surgeon can only do so much, the patient is responsible for the rest.

If you go to a reputable plastic surgeon who does a lot of gynecomastia, you certainly shouldn't look worse after surgery.  I hate to see you decline surgery merely because you feel you might look worse.  Just do your homework and find an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon.
Best of luck

I'm just worried that if I get the surgery, it will look obvious that I had some sort of surgery on my chest. I don't want that if I'm honest. I don't mind a small scar but some of the before/after shots I've seen on the net don't look good to me if I'm being honest, so it worries me.

You will need to talk to few experienced surgeons and with what they will tell you, you gonna decide. In my case i had a mild to moderate gyno and no scars left at all (except two small holes like the holes you see in liposuction). No incision to nipples (like many do have combined with lipo). I did a revolutionary technique that i never heard/seen else, but the surgeon was very experienced and he didnt tell me bullshits. So, you need to do a good research, believe me, it all depends from the surgeon about the scars and if they will be noticeable.
