I had my surgery about 7 weeks ago and I am happy with my new chest… but I have two 7 inch long vertical scars, one on each of my sides due to the seams of the first post op compression vest rubbing against my skin. While wearing the vest I noticed that my sides were itchy, but I was instructed not to take off the vest until the first post op appointment, 5 days after my surgery. Now 7 weeks later I have two very visible scars. I met with my PS and he told me not to worry about it and just apply silicone sheets to the scars daily for the next 12 weeks. I have used the silicone sheets for the last 3 weeks and have not really noticed that much of a difference; I am really starting to worry that the scars will become permanent. As of right now with my shirt off, the scars make it obvious that I have had surgery. Has anyone else had this happen? And if so, did the scars go away?
