Just curious. Why does here seem to be varied opinions about the length of time patients should wear compression garments? I just had m one week follow up and my Dr. Said I didn't need compression any longer. I googled it and see that answers range from a week to six weeks. I would think there would be a standard that is followed. Should I not listen to my doctor and keep wearing my compression garment?

Yes, doctors' post op care does vary according to their own experience with their patients.  There is no absolute right or wrong -- so there can not be a "standard."  What works for one patient or one doctor may not work for another.

I generally request a snug compression garment for a minimum of 4 weeks and a max of six weeks.  Just think, it cannot hurt and it could help.

There are studies that suggest that compression has benefit up to six weeks. I recommend four weeks to most of my patients, and that's worked well.
