So, I have to take off work, and explain to several people why I will be mysteriously out of commission for several days. So, I was thinking of a good cover, because I am not going to say "Oh yeah, gynecomastia surgery..." So, I think I am going to say I had a corneal operation because I scratched my eye, so I had a patch over it for several days and couldn't go out in public/work ect. Heh... is this a legit excuse? :D
Went under the knife on 7/27/07 - Revision 5/22/08 - Great results this far.

Why don't you just tell them you are going on a short vacation or helping someone move or something.

I guess, but I gave them no warning, I didn't know I would be getting surgery until yesterday, and I don't want to have some problems for taking a "vacation" with no notice like that.

There are no surgery openings, I was squeezed in as it is... I don't really care though, I'm just taking the whole week off.

I am going to have the same problem really, as I work for my dad (who I don't live with) so I am going to have to find a very good excuse...

At the minute I am going to not say anything then call in sick saying I've broken a few ribs and will be off for a week or two then will have to take it easy when I get back (physical job).

I think you should just call in sick?

Just say that you are having surgery to remove two benign lumps in your chest. They'll be satisfied with that and it's not far from the truth either...  ;)

Or "removing swollen glands". That's even more accurate... Even though it's not swelling, it's basically the same thing.

You guys those are all kind of raunchy excuses... and they do sound as extreme as the surgery I am getting, I don't need people asking me tons of questions. I played my eye excuse today, and it worked like a charm =)

Tell them you've had a fall and bruised your ribs and it's very painful for you to move about. You've been given strong pain killers and you can't drink or drive with them.

That should see you through the week OK  ;)

I worked for a company which would fire you for lying if you fabricated a story to cover an absence from work.

The really good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what story you told to which person.

Well my job isn't that big of a deal, I'm just 18. I work at a store with a bunch of people my age, I think if word got out it could get pretty embarrassing.
