Hey guys,

Just thought I would post my experiences.  I just got surgery done today with Dr. Wagner of Indianapolis.  He did a bilateral surgery with lipo and incision.

I went into the surgery center at 10:30 in the morning.  After some paperwork I moved into a room where a nurse asked some general medical questions and I slipped into the clothes given.  This is also where they put in the IV and anti-biotics.  I was in this room for about 40 minutes with my mom and brother.

Finally at around 11:30 Dr. Wagner came in the room and did some markings and noted that my right side had more fat/gland then the left and marked accordingly.  He said he would be lifting my nipple's up a little as well.  After he left the anesthesiologist entered the room and told me that he would initially put me to sleep via the IV, and then slip a gas mask over me once I had fallen asleep.  After that the nurse who would be taking care of me entered the room and this is when I said bye to my mom and entered the operating room.

They sat me down on a comfy table with a warm blanket.  The anesthesiologist told me he was going to put in something to relax me.  He also told me he would tell me when he was going to insert the stuff to put me to sleep, but I can't remember anything past the initial stuff he put in me to relax.  Next thing I know I'm in the wakeup room recovering.

The pain wasn't bad and it's honestly like what a lot of you guys have said, just a huge soreness on your chest like you overworked it on a recent workout.  They moved me to my own recovery room and I was there about an hour, and then was allowed to leave from there.

I haven't taken off my compression vest yet but I can already feel how flat my chest is.  I will be posting some pictures in a couple days and hopefully everything looks and heals great.  Right now I feel relatively no pain, but I was given some Vicodin so that's probably why.

Im glad that I finally got it over.  The main anxiety I had over doing surgery was being put to sleep but it wasn't all that bad.  I would say the only painful part of the whole thing was the initial IV needle they stuck into my vein...  if you call that pain atleast =)

I've got some pre-op pictures in a thread I made in the User Photo's section of this website.  In short, I went from 230 pounds to 170 currently from January 18 to June (about 5-6 months).  During this weight loss, I was curious as to why my chest area was not slimming down along with the rest of my body, and it is during this time I learned of the condition of gynecomastia.  I always figured if I lost fat that my chest would stop sagging and become flat.

Anyways I'll give you guys an update as time comes.  I'm eager to see how my chest looks but I think I'll wait until tomorrow morning before I take off the vest for a minute.

Thanks for the the summary of your experience.  I'm having my procedure on Monday, and I'm having a lot of anxiety right now.

Congrats, and I'm looking forward (kind of) to mine.

You'll be fine.  For me personally the anxiety didnt really start to hit until the day of the surgery.  But just think of it as each minute passing by, you getting closer to getting it done.  Once you wake up in recovery you feel much better and for me the only hard part of the whole operation was the IV they put in me.

Relax, and let us know how your operation went!

ok here are some 1 day post-op pics.  tell me how it is.

Im pretty bruised up on my left side as you can see.  I also am pretty swollen throughout my whole chest.  I wonder how I will look when it is completely healed, hopefully better than it is now.  Any comments?  The doc said he removed 4-5 ounces of fat/gland on each side.

Do you guys think it will look different in ten days, or will it be a slow healing process?

Your chest will probably change a lot in the next 2 months.

Mine tightened up during the first 4 weeks and looked very good. But then during the following months, my chest kind of relaxed. Now it hangs some, mostly because my skin has lost a lot of its elasticity. But I'm 58.

Best of luck!

Wow, swelling and bruising has reduced significantly just from a few days.  My right side looks so flat and not out of ordinary (i was so use to seeing it sag all my life)!  I'll post some update pic's for you guys in a couple days.

4 weeks post op update, had pretty big swelling on my left side for 3 weeks of that.

Just saw doc today and said it's good the fluid's arent coming back and that I can't exercise until 2-3 weeks after I've had no recurring swelling.

Do you guys see any improvements from the initial post-op pics I posted?
I'm hoping it keeps flattening up because I feel my body still has a lot more to heal.

For you other guys who have taken surgery, did your chest look way different from month 1 to month 3 or 4..?

Whao..that is a lot of improvement from your 1 day post-op pics. You look much much better and flatter now. Looks like your skin has good elasticity. I think it 'll improve more in the next few months. Thanks a lot for updating us.

Wow - outstanding results from your original post-op pics.  You have to be excited - I'm excited for you. :)

You were absolutely right your earlier reply to me, as I was having anxiety prior to my surgery.   It was a drop in the park - no big thing.  I'll be 4 weeks on this coming Monday and my chest seems to change from day to day.....or so it seems.  I'm sure it has to do with swelling and what I did that day.

At any rate, great results!!!
