Just checking to see if anyone has experience with revision surgeries. I had my first surgery 2 1/2 years ago and although it is better (maybe 50%) it is still a very noticable problem that resticts me from doing all the things that have been posted here before. I have contacted Dr. Bearmont (not original surgeon) about possible revision. However I don't want to waste another $5-6 K if its a hopeless cause. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe he would but i'm not happy with him. He is very non-informitive and acts like i'm bothering him when I asked questions. The whole experience was not a good one. Don't want to make the same mistake twice. I have heard nothing but good things about Dr.Bermant.

I think it all depends on what caused your problem initially.  If the first surgeon didn't take out all the gland, then going to a surgeon that does take out all the gland should give you much better results.

If your gynecomastia was caused by excess fat, and you are overweight, you shouldn't have high expectations even from revision surgery.  Everyone that gets surgery should attempt to get physically fit beforehand so they have a better idea of what's causing their condition.

Im 6'3" 207lbs. Not super thin but not grossly overweight either. As far as the past surgery he did lypo w/ ultrasound. No gland to my knowledge was removed.

I am also in a similar situation as you. I had a surgery done about 3 yrs ago. However, my gyno is amost the same as it was before the surgery. I am also considering getting a surgery from Dr.Bermant since I have heard good things about him. It is better to go to an expert like Dr.Bermant who deal with Gyno frequently than a surgeon who rarely perform surgery for gyno. I think that the problem with my first surgery was that the surgeon only did liposuction and no excision. This time I will be looking for liposuction with excision.

It's not loose skin for me. I really believe I just got a bad PS who didn't do the job right. I've read lots of posts and they say how liitle pain and bruising they had after surgery. Thats not the situation I had. I was in a severe amount of pain when i woke up(especially on the rt) and my bruising extended from my hip bone to my chest. Does anyone have exp. with Dr. Bermant?

This forum's search function has been broken for some time.  Using Google is one good way to seach this forum for patient experiences.  Just click on the link and replace bermant with the term you want to seach.

Patients with gynecomastia often do move on after surgery.  Some are kind enough to help posting here helping others.

Hope this helps,

Hi, Dr. Bermant. My name is Michael I am 20 years old, and I'm from CLeveland, OH. 9 months ago I had the surgery. It was performed by Dr. Reichstein of the Kaiser Permanente Severance sight in CLeveland Hts., OH. 4 months ago I went back in for the post-op check up and I was having problems with the appearance of my chest. He told me that my chest was normal and there was nothing to be concerned about, just massage the areolas periodically, and the skin should reconnect to the muscle within a few months. That's where the problem is. I'm still unhappy with the results and I don't think he did a very good job. You can judge for yourself what you think the problem is. I tried to call your office this morning but the answering service kept picking up. If you could tell me your opinion and what you think I should do please let me know. Kaiser covered the expense of my surgery, I don't know if they cover mistakes or whatever to repair stuff.  SO whatever you can do to help, pleez do. the link takes you to the web page, just click on the documents tab and click on the pics you'll see what I mean. Also if possible, could you let me know if I am a candidate for areola reduction that'd be awesome.

Loose skin sometimes only adjusts so far.  Male Chest Tightening Surgery Scars can be a significant compromise.  For many patients, the skin does contract well enough that the skin reduction scars are not an acceptible compromise.  For others, a secondary skin reduction may be necessary.

Hanging male breasts shown in this view look feminine and I have seen many patients unhappy with their drooping chest tissues.  The hanging breasts can be from removal of a great deal of breast tissue, aging, or massive weight loss.

After massive weight loss, excess skin can be a problem.  The extra skin can be around the stomach, thights, buttocks, chest, arms, and face. Body building can fill loose tissues with muscles to a degree for the chest, but not well in the stomach.  Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty and Body Lift Sculpture can help with the stomach and extending around the back. For men this can result in Male Chest Ptosis or drooping boobs.  The areola and nipples can be well below the pectoral muscles giving a strange look to the male chest, especially when flexed.  Loose skin can be difficult to show in photographs.  That why I evolved the bending over view to demonstrate problems that loose skin can cause.  Male Mastopexy Breast Lift can help but there is a trade off for the loose skin.

Options depend on the original problem, what was done, the nature of the remaining skin / tissues, and other factors best explored during a consultation.

Hope this helps,

Michael Bermant, MD

I had 2nd surgery with Dr. Bermant (hi doc!) about 3 years ago. You can see my case in his website http://www.plasticsurgery4u.com/revision_gynecomastia/revision_puffy_nipples.html

I've had a normal body, athletic and had surgery in Miami with a terrible Dr. Persoff that only did lipo when we both knew it was also glandular (and we discussed it!). He didn't offered a revision neither I wanted it because I didn't trust him so I contacted Dr. Bermant and my life has changed since then.
If you can, I really recommend Dr. Bermant for a revision surgery cuz it's worth it. A revision is even more complicated than a 1st time so just do it right and travel to see him. BTW my chest looks even better now!!!

Rgds,

Fossil
First lipo, after excision, finally happy

I just had my revision surgery on Thursday and my chest looks PERFECT already!! I was in the same situation as fossil, altho I went back to my origianl PS for the free revision and im SOOO glad i did. Lipo only was a waste for my situation, but its all good cuz it did help shape the contour of my chest and with the excision revision my nips are completly flat now!

Altho the first surgey wasnt a success, I highly reccomend Dr. Brian Heil if you are from the Pittsburgh area. He is very qualified and does these precedures daily. My results are PERFECT with tiny scars and very little if any brusing or swelling.
