Hi there.

I have had my surgery in late october and everything is going well. I have been massaging daily for about fifteen minutes on each side to alleviate scar tissue. I was just wondering how much longer I should do so. Reaso I ask is that my latest surgery was to remove scar tissure and was told massaging would help ease this problem. I was told sometimes it takes up to a year for scar tissue to show up so should i continue massaging daily for up to a year.´

Thanks

Jimmy,

If you feel like the tissue is nice and supple, that nothing is sticking down in the surgical site, and most of the swelling has dissipated, it's probably safe to quit massaging.  By the same token, you're not doing harm if you continue.  It's perfectly reasonable to get the opinion of your surgeon at your next visit--or give his or her office a call.  Something like this is better determined by physical exam.
