Hi I got puffy nipples from steroid use and was wanting to know since my body fat is low do they still need to lipo. If so where they would make their excision? Thanks.  ;)

Liposuction is used for contouring, in addition to removing the glandular tissue from beneath the nipple-areola.  Except in patients who are exceptionally low body fat, such as the levels achieved during contest preparation, some liposuction is used to feather out the tissue around the area of resection in order to minimize any irregularity in the contour due to the excision.

In some body builders with low body fat, taking anabolic steroids can produce gyne just under the areola -- or sometimes result in tissue the size of a softball (I have seen this!).

This situation requires peri-areolar excision 100% of the time.  Liposuction, frequently without suction, is then used to help re-distribute and re-drape the skin - its purpose is not really to remove fat.  If this is not done, one runs the risk of having a residual puffiness of the areola.

There are two types of tissue in your breast, fat and glandular tissue. The fat is removed with lipo and the dense glandular tissue requires direct excision. I have found it useful even in cases with a majority of glandular tissue to feather ( blend, smooth  ) the edges with liposuction. The liposuction reduces the tendency for a saucer deformity after surgery.
