Greetings!

So here it is! I'm a little nervous…I had surgery 11 days ago and I'm little concerned with my healing. My left nipple looks great and I can't even see the incision line, while my right looks like this. I can clearly see the incision line and theres an accumulation of dried blood. My question is…is this accumulation of blood located on top of the incision or does it represent a split open incision? I have not been resting as much as I should be, even though I've been at home in bed for the last week and a half. I went to the macy's in the mall today and I felt a pain on my left side and I thought I may of split it open. The incision has looked like this since before the physical activity. Any words of wisdom regarding healing at 1 1/2 weeks would be appreciated. Doctors….is it normal for the incision to look like this? Also will those creases/semi-indentations go away?

Thank you!

It is not unusual for both sides to look slightly different initially.  what counts is what it will look like six months from now.

Sometimes the lower half of the areola does turn slightly darker -- in 99% of cases, it heals just fine.  Just don't let it dry out -- keep apply antibiotic ointment on it.

The other irregularities near your incision may just be swelling of the tissues but would check with your surgeon to be reassured.

Thank you for your response doctor.

There is actually a layer if glue on top if the incision that I am waiting to come off and I believe it is because of this why I was told to not put any ointment from the beginning. Thoughts?

Its still early and I would certainly check with your surgeon.Having said that its common to have differences between the two sides along with discoloration and these typically resolve without a significant problem.
