Hello,
I am 14 and have had gynecomastia for about 2 years. My dad asked the Specialist and he said there is nothin i can do cuz of my age, so does this mean i have to stay with this and cant do anything about it until i am old enough? just walk around with this until im over age for surgery? Is there anything at all (even to atleast minimize it) i can do or am i basically unable to do anything? Thanks in advance for the people that reply.

Some PS's will perform the procedure on young teens... However, many PS's are reluctant as there is a chance that it might resolve itself...

Yea well u see my uncle is a doctor and my dad asked him to ask a SP so i doubt my dad will go against my uncle and the SP, and plus he aint to happy about surgery (he kinds nervous if i get it) but he will do it cuz see the pain i go through =/

In the short term, if your problem is that it shows through your clothing there are ways to conceal it.

Compression vests and undershirts are available in most sporting goods stores. They are a great help. For your outer garment, it is best to avoid knits especially if they are snug fitting. Loose fitting buttoned up shirts made of woven fabrics are the best bet. Don't get carried away with the loose fitting idea, too loose simply looks sloppy.

For ages I was considered to be the best dressed man at work. Not many people actually knew why or even cared.

Do not be tempted to try and flatten the nipples with any kind of tape. Over time this can cause tears in the skin and leave ugly scars.

even if you do the compression in high school, depending on how it behaves over time and maybe a consultation with an endo, you might be able to do something around college time.  i don't say it lightly, but  be glad you found out now instead of ten or twenty years from now.

I just had my surgery 2 days ago. What a relief. I haven't even looked at my chest since i sat up off the operating table but even looking down at my chest with small sutures it looked a hundred times better. I havent seen my chest flat since I was 12 - I'm 19 now. Trust me when I say this - you want to go for the surgery. The mental anguish and discomfort that this will cause you through high school and into college, and up until you get it fixed, is not worth it. I consider myself lucky as i only had problems with puffy nipples, for me that was bad enough.

At first I didn't even know I had a problem. I thought it was normal and maybe a part of puberty. Don't let anyone tell you that it's going to go away because in all likelihood it wont, and if it causes you to feel self-conscious even for the next 2 years if it does in fact go away, then there is no amount of money that is too much to rectify the problem. You cannot put a price on on self-confidence and self-esteem. I am a third year psychology student and thus I became increasingly aware of the many ways that this condition has effected me and changed me. Fix things now I can't emphasize that enough.
