I had surgery almost a year ago (a few days before Christmas 2008). I was so happy when it was over because I thought I was done with dealing with gynecomastia. I'm pretty sure it was lipo only even though I have scars under my aerola and near my armpit. I wasn't very knowledgeable of the surgery (my own fault), but someone I know who works at the place where I got this assured me this would gynecomastia would be done. I remember after the surgery I asked to see the tissue and they said it was already gone.

I waited the six months I was told it would take to heal to see full results. After a few months when there was no pain anymore I noticed it didn't really look like it was any different. My breasts looked smaller, but they were still present. I exercised and lost almost 20 pounds AFTER the surgery, in a period of about 7 months, hoping this would help. This was leading up to the middle of this summer. The pictures in this topic are from then, when i was at my lowest weight of 153 pounds.

I became depressed and thought I would never get rid of this problem, so I started to eat whatever I wanted and stopped exercising and now I weight 166 pounds. It still bothers me and I just feel like I will never be normal. No one in my life really understands how I feel because they don't have to deal with this situation. I feel uncomfortable with my shirt off and I weight 166 pounds. Most people hate having their shirt off at that weight because their scrawny. I feel ridiculous.

What should I do? I'm debating getting another surgery and making sure I get glandular excision.

my guess is you're another victim of mediocre ps's who think a cannula is a magic wand.  i'd have words with your old doc about getting him to cover the expenses of an excision revision, if he's close to competent.  but obviously he's not a specialist, or he'd have run into this complaint before you.

a common problem  :(

* if it screws up your life the same, is there really any such thing as "mild" gyne?

Hello everyone,

In March 2008 I decided I wanted to look better. I was at approx. 210lbs @ 5'10''. I cleaned up my diet and started exercising. Today I weigh 162lbs and I am 22 years old. Even though I have lost a great deal of weight and look much better than before, I still feel fat. This is mainly due to the fact that I have excess fat in my chest, stomach and leg area.

I'm wanting to know if I have gynecomastia. I am also afraid I lost the weight wrong and might just be suffering from "skinny fat". If that's the case I would like to bulk up and then cut when I reach an ideal weight and have more muscle.

Please, evaluate my pictures and provide comments. Thank you all.

Congratulations on the either 48 or 68 pounds weight loss!  Weight loss before surgery is typically better than weight loss after. You cannot pick where the fat goes on, or where it comes off.  Men tend to put fat on the belly and chest first and take it off those regions last.  If you lost weight after surgery and it did not come off the chest, then the weight loss can look like the gynecomastia came back (when the problem may have been how the additional fat came or did not come off.  If the surgery did not look good after the swelling came down, you may have issues of how your surgeon sculpted the chest.

However, at that much weight loss, Loose Skin of the Male Chest can be a major contour factor that can be demonstrated with these Standard Male Mastopexy or Loose Skin Issues of the male chest. An in office evaluation is best, but trying to understand the loose skin component, how low the areola are below the pectoral muscles, can all be factors that those photos demonstrate.

Hope this helps,
