Hey guys. So, I've been lurking these forums for quite a bit now and recently decided to join. Anyway, I've been pretty insecure about my chest since what feels like forever. I've already tried losing weight a couple years ago (I went from over 200 lbs to 145 lbs), but my chest still didn't look right. I recently gained more weight after starting college 2 years ago (about 40 lbs lol) and here is what my chest looks today.

My question is, does it look like I have gynecomastia or fat? I would really appreciate any comments. Thank you very much!

There definitely appears to be some glandular mass that looks to be exacerbated by some fat as well. It's not too bad though and some exercise should surely be able to make it look a bit better as you will be able to slowly reduce the fat content over time (but not the gland of course). How old are you and for how long have you had the condition?

Thank you for the reply! I feared it was a gland but I guess it is what it is. I'll try to exercise a bit when I have some free time to see if it looks better. I'm 19 btw, and I've had a weird chest for as long as I can remember, lol.

Yes, you are a bit overweight.  But the configuration revealed on your 3/4 view absolutely demonstrates gyne with puffy nipples.

Losing weight and exercising is great for you -- but do not delude yourself that it will make those tissues totally disappear -- they won't.  Ultimately, you may wish to consult a gyne specialist for evaluation.  In the meantime, you can get a better shape by wearing some snug compression garments.

Thank you for the honest answer, Dr. Jacobs. Would losing weight at least make the puffy nipples appear smaller? or will it still stay the same? and is there a store where I can buy compression garments or do I have to buy them online? Thanks again.

Yes, losing weight will make your entire body slightly smaller, including your breasts.  But the breast tissue itself will not change -- so your chest will be only slightly smaller.

You can find a terrific selection of compression garments online.  Or, perhaps go to your local sporting goods and apparel store -- you should be able to find something by UnderArmour or the like.
