Hello all,

I'm new here. Glad I found this website while doing my research online. :)

I went to see a plastic surgeon in a government hospital. I was recommended general anesthesia (GA) for the surgery. I was told that local anesthesia (LA) may be more painful or uncomfortable.

I did a lot of searching online. There doesn't seem to have any clear answer which is better.

Some doctors believe LA is safer and the recovery time is quicker than GA. It is also recommended if there isn't much fats to be removed.

On the other hand, some other doctors prefer to perform the surgery with the patient under GA. It is easier to remove more fats easily without the patient feeling anxious.

At this moment, I feel a bit uneasy with GA as it feels like I lose control over my body. I have also read that GA carries some risks even though they are rare.

What are your thoughts on this?
