What a blessing to find you guys! I can still hardly believe that I am writing to you all. The stories, the struggles, I truly do appreciate how each one of you is contributing to this site, and helping make life for those of us struggling with gyne a little more bearable. Thank you!

My expereince with what appears to be a severe case of gyne has become a little more tolerable now that I am in getting into pretty good shape my late 20s. I feel otherwise handsome and confident, have a beautiful girlfriend and a lot of great buddies. But I have been suffering from gyne since 6th grade. I can still remember the humiliating points, laughs, stares, grabs and taunts that would assail me in middle school. In high school, a few guys on the football team singled me out for almost constant mocking and abuse. That was really hard, and I think may have left me with some emotional issues to work through.

That being said, having gyne was also sort of a weird blessing. I think it has helped me become much, much more sympathetic to those who are mocked, humiliated or hurting for whatever reason. And I like that about myself.

However, I think am ready to take the plunge with surgery. After reading a lot about him, I think I am going to schedule an appointment with Dr. Elliot Jacobs. I really like his frequent contributions to this website, and his professional website seems to indicate he has done this quite a lot, and enjoys helping men with this situation.

Can anyone give me some pre-appointment suggestions to think about or consider? Thank you all for being on this journey with me! You guys are the best.

I started using the notepad function on my phone to list all my questions. That way you can keep note of questions as they pop into your head.

I asked everything I could think of !

Seems like Jacobs knows what he is talking about - and yes I think it is a good attribute that he contributes alot & understands the impact of the condition.

I bet every bloke on this site can understand the stuff you have just written about.

Good Luck with it all.

I have not had this surgery, but I have had several and have a number of health issues! I have to deal with doctors all the time and sometimes it can be real hard to find specialist that are easy to deal with and care, let alone worth a darn!

Knowing what I know from life's experiences I can tell you that I think that Dr. Jacobs is a great one to go with! I do not know him personally, but from all that he has done on this forum and his web site shows his work as well, I don't think that you can go wrong with having him do your surgery!

With all that being said, there are a couple more here that are regular posters that I would also say are on the same level as Dr. Jacobs, so you would also have them as well if you where closer to them. A doctor that takes the time to help out as these do on the forum is great that they give of there time for us!

tpuk: What an awesome idea about the phone! I'm definitely going to do that. About how long between your decision to get the surgery and the actual day of the operation? And how do you feel about the surgery, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks for the reply!

hammer: In addition to Dr. Jacobs seeming well-qualified, I've decided to visit him because he is only a few hours away. He is in NYC, I live outside of Philadelphia, and my folks live in northern New Jersey. Nevertheless, I agree with you on the importance of keeping eyes out for good docs. Thanks for the tip, brother!

Oh the city of brotherly love! I went to one of the Navy schools there on the Navy base in 1978! I used to take the subway to the only country western bar in all Philly back then, oh to be young and have so much fun!

Good luck my friend, I wish you the best, God bless!

Surgery with the gyne-guru himself! You'll be in good hands to say the least.

Man your post brought back some memories. Middle school football teasing to be specific.

When I spoke to the surgeons' secretary I had already emailed photos to the surgeon & he said he could help - so I booked an appointment & surgery next day (it involved a few hours travel) - so it was 4 weeks from my phone call.

re: how I feel about the surgery.......very matter of fact - it needs doing as soon as I find a good surgeon.... I can't believe I did it (I have a quite bad anxiety / panic disorder & places like hospitals/doctors are triggers for panic in me), the money could never come close to making me as happy as being gyn free could....

My results are very good 9 days post-op & fingers crossed it stays that way... but I am being very careful & mindful of the ups & downs others have been through.....

The stuff I did forget to ask about was scar tissue etc, but Dr Jacobs seems to know alot about that aswell so go for it. gl.

Hammer/Bob: Hahaha, oh man! A country western bar in Philly -- THAT must have been a crazy scene, for sure! Glad you had the opportunity to visit Philadelphia and had a good time! Thank you for the well-wishes, friend. I really appreciate them. God bless!

xelnaga: Yeah, I bet we could fill the Titanic with the amount of crummy memories those of us on this site have from this condition. But all of the support and encouragement on here has been really terrific. But thanks for the encouragement, brother!

tpuk: Your information is great, man. Very thankful you reached out to me! I hear you about being mindful of the ups & downs ... yet -- and I don't want to seem naive here -- it seems like the vast majority of guys on this site who went for the surgery are glad they did, no? Please keep me posted. Very interested in how it goes. Thanks!

ibartistic18: Thank you for the encouragement! I appreciate it. I'll be chiming in after I make the appointment.
