Hi,
I am a healthy, and athletic 24 year old male, with gynocomastia - puffy nipples. I have consulted with a cosmetic surgeon in Canada, and I will be undergoing corrective surgery in September (have to love free health care). I had a consultation in May, and for some reason my surgeon put me on his 'ugrent' list.

I have posted some questions and pictures on this site before, but now I have a few more questions. According to my surgeon, I will be undergoing a "sub cutaneous bilateral masectomy".

First of all, here are some pictures of my condition:

According to my surgeon: he supposedly only does glandular excision for this surgery. He really didn't mention lipo as a solution to my problem. I talked to his assistant/nurse, and she said that they do just the excision because it is far less invasive...

Based on my pictures, how severe would you say my case is?

What is swelling, pain, recovery time, scarring like for *just* glandular excision and/or with my level of gynocomastia (if you can estimate this from just pictures).

Do you think a glandular excision would solve my problems?

I am kind of paranoid in that I think I may need the excision plus lipo. I feel like I may have some excess fatty tissue around my aerola's, but perhaps (depending on the size of the gland), a gland removal will solve it...

Is this gland just a sweat duct or what does it do?

Also, as far as hiding the scar: do you think I should grow a nice crop of chest hair for a few months to cover up? ;-)

If I just undergo a glandular excision, do I still need to wear a compression vest for a month?

Thanks

Well looking at your pics it looks mainly glandular rather than fatty tissue, so excision only should do a decent job.

It's always better to get excision plus lipo though so the surgeon can contour out the cavity caused by the gland removal and blend it in to the rest of the chest. But, it's free, so really I guess you shouldn't grumble and i'm sure excision only will be fine,

I would not say you have only puffy nipples, but puffy nipples on top of a mini-breast.

A mini breast? Are you high?

The only place the contour of his chest is wrong is directly behind the nipple area. Of course there is a little bit of fat in his chest, if you look at the last picture he's a little chubby. And I agree plus lipo is better, and if you can pay extra for the lipo then that might be worth it. That's what I did. But i'm sure you could get great results with excision only,

Man, your pics make me feel like I am looking in a mirror. Please let me know how you make out after your surgery (good luck!!). I hope it inspires me to do the same.
