My doctor told me that if I can't bring someone with me for surgery to sign the papers, he can't operate me in operation theatre. Hence he would be able to operate me only outside OT under local Anaesthesia.
Could you please tell me the pros and cons of general vs local anaesthesia?
also which one u guys suggest?

  • Had expensive surgery... Now I'm flat busted!
I have seen several posters saying they experienced more pain than they expected under local.  One recent post I read said there was very little pain with local.  I assume it all depends on your individual pain tolerance as well as the scope of your surgery.

I was very pleased with my surgery experience.  I was knocked out.   ;)

I had my op done with only local -as i dont like the idea of going under.  However, it was very painfull and i even felt the lipo tube being inserted before the anaesthetic had done its job.  (see my threat on Surgery in Bangkok - on Asian threads)

Having said this i would still opt for local - but next time (need revision) select a more competent phisician.  If the anaeshetic is right then the pain is mostly discomfort due to the pressure amd vigoures movment of the lipo tube.
