I'm on day 2 now after surgery.  I have been wearing my compression vest and it is causing my rib area to be tender to the touch.  Is it ok to unbutton the bottom portion of the vest letting my belly have some relief.  Or will this affect the pressure put on my chest?

Your rib is probably sore from the procedure.  It's probably okay for you to loosen it or pad it in some way, but you should let your surgeon know and confirm that with him or her.

Really? Why would my ribs be sore from the surgery?

The ribs can get banged up a little with the liposuction.

I would recommend you immediately call your surgeon and ask him/her. Personally I always prefer to answer a question as opposed to miss something that is potentially important.
