It certainly would cramp your training for a while.
From my experience you would have to stay away from training for about 3-4 weeks.
After that you can go full tilt with exercise. At that point you wont harm your body, but you may be uncomfortable for another 4-8 weeks, especially in full contact sports like football and wrestling.
Since we are so close to football season, and since that runs right into wrestling season, my advice is grin and bear it until next April. You will still have time to recover for football season, and you will even have a great shirtless summer.
