Irish,  I found this thread on another forum. Have a look:

"I have posted a few questions on this site regarding gyno etc and after trying everything (the advice from this board was excellent) I decided to have surgery to remove it.

I have always had it in my mind to go abroad for the surgery. I feel that if someone can do the same quality job cheaper then why pay thousands of pounds extra just to have it done in Britain (when the surgeon may not be British anyway) because of this I decided to go to Poland for the surgery and thats all I can is that I made the right choice. The operation cost £980 and that included everything, all after care, medication, compression bandage etc. All in all with flights (I flew from Bristol airport) accomodation, transfers etc the whole experience cost around £1500. This could have been cheaper if I had booked the flights earlier and flew on a weekday.

The name of the surgeon was katarzyna Ostrowski-Clark and the clinic was called -. She was taught by and operated for the best plastic surgeon in Poland for 10yrs and has only just decided to open her own clinic (it opened in January). She has one bed in her clinic so the aftercare is exceptional. The clinic was modern and put me right at ease.

The webstie is x it is only in Polish at the moment but she has plans to translate it into English soon. Her husband is also a doctor and is British, from Bristol, she also speaks fluent English.

I flew out on Friday night, had the operation done on Saturday and flew home on Sunday. It was quite a trip and afterwards I felt foolish for feeling so anxious and nervous about traveling to have surgery. I can not speak highly enough of the service that Kararzyna provides.

The only thing that hurt was the local aneasthetic. The needle going into my nipples made my feet curl lol. Anyway she talked me through the whole operation and showed me both of the glands after she had removed them. Afterwards when I had the compresion bandage and dressing on it started throbbing a bit but it was not really that painful. Infact I stopped talking the painkillers the night of the operation because I was not in any pain.

Today is the last day that I have to wear the compresion bandage and cant wait to get it off. I can tell already what a good job she has done as the swelling is already easing and the stiches are perfect.

One of the good things that she did was that she arranged an ultra sound for me for the morning of the operation. She said this is so she can undersand exactly how big the glandular tissue is, she can ascertain from this whether you need liposuction or not. Also to rule out anything sinister going on i.e. cancer. I dont believe that the surgeons in Britain do this.

All in all my experience was a very good one. If you have any questions about anything please ask. Having gynecomastia and deciding to have surgery can be a horrible experience. Also if you want the contact details of the clinic I will give them to you."

irish / bigbiffa:  I wrote to the clinic.  Their reply is below.  You guys also research please.  Maybe together we can fid a good surgeon and a good clinic and get the surgery done cheaply.

"Dear Sir,

Our English website is at www.plastic-surgery-poland.co.uk - if you
click on blogs/opinions this will take you to a blog
on which several of our patients have written.

The Consultant Surgeon - has over 11 years
experience in cosmetic surgery.
As far as numbers are concerned this month alone we have five
gynecomastia patients.

- is situated in - which does have a small International
Airport - although from most cities in the U.K.
we recommend flying to Berlin which is only a couple of hours away and
we can arrange a very comfortable (and cheap) door-to-door service.

I attach full information on how to proceed to book an appointment. In
summary the first steps are (a) to send photographs
(b) the filled-in patient form at the end of the attached information
and (c) the deposit.

We look forward to hearing from you !

Yours sincerely,

Jeremy Clark"

Dear Sir,

thank you for your interest.

Male breast reduction can be performed with the use of two methods: first is liposuction (in case of excess of fat tissue) second is surgical removal of gland (in case of excess of glandular tissue). Required length of stay in the surgical part of the clinic after the surgery in case of liposuction or removal of gland is 1-2 days. We recommend arrival a day before planned surgery, it is possible to stay in our hotel part of the clinic.

Below please find prices (please note that we have a price list fixed in our national currency so given prices in euro depend on current exchange rate):

1) Gynecomastia - in case of excess of fat tissue performed as a liposuction costs 5000 Polish Zloty (around 1250 euro) including 1 night of stay, blood examination. Each next day of stay costs 250 zloty, which is around 62 euro.

2) Gynecomastia - in case of excess of glandular tissue - removal of glandular tissue by surgical cut 6000 Polish Zloty (around 1500 euro) including 1 night of stay, blood examination. Each next day of stay costs 250 zloty, which is around 62 euro.

Stay of additional person in our hotel part: costs 250 zloty, which is around 62 euro per day including all meals and all drinks.

A big advantage would be organising your pictures, I will consult them with our main plastic surgeon and let you know all about the results. If you are happy with the results of consultation made according to sent pictures we will establish a date of your surgery. If we agree on the date then I will ask you to send 300 euro (installement for the surgery) deposit to the clinic bank account. Next step is arrival to our clinic and undergoing the surgery.

The only thing you should organise alone are flights. We are placed in Szczecin (Northern Poland), you can fly directly to our airport from Dublin with Ryanair or from London Stansted with Ryanair. The rough journey from the airport takes about 45minutes. You can also fly to Berlin Tegel or Berlin Schoenefeld with any other airlines. The rough journey from Berlin's airports takes about 2,5 hour. I will organise your transportation either from Szczecin airport or from Berlin airports. The costs of the transportation are stated below.

Other costs:
- organising transportation Berlin’s or Szczecin's airport-clinic-airport 50 euro / person.

As for now the soonest available dates are either 2nd of October or in November are 6th, 7th, 20th or 21st with arrival a day before.

Dates that I have stated above involve undergoing the surgery with our ladu plastic surgeon (specialist from Norway) who specialises in gynecomastia surgeries, she performs a few such a procedures per month.

If you are still interested, we can arrrange a phone conversation. I can call at any appropriate time for you in order to discuss any questions, doubts etc.

Kindest regards,
Nina Manduk

lets ask for references.  contact details of english speaking former patients who have had excision only and excision +lipo in 2009.

then i think we should email or call these former patients and get their feedback.

Also, photos form the clinic pre & post op would be good to see.

Irish..add anything else you want to ask too.

Seems like November has many free dates.

Also, ask if compression vests, massage cream, scar reducing cream is included in the price?
