Hi, I am a 36 year old male who is very over weight. I have gone up and down in my weight throughout my life but back when I was about 28 and about my normal weight for my height my right nipple started to get bigger than the left, then the breast area around it got bigger too. I do not smoke pot and never have even tried it nor have I ever taken any steroids. I do take beta blockers for blood pressure but that's it. I've also had a lump develop behind the nipple but my doctor doesn't seem to be concerned about it, I've asked him twice and he says it's not cancer even though he hasn't done any tests to rule it out. I am posting a couple of pictures I took to get your opinions about it. I apologize ahead of time, I know I don't have the nicest build to look at lol I'm working on it though and lost about 20 lbs so far in a month but I have  LOOOONG way to go as far as that goes.

Yes, that's gynecomastia.

Rest assured it's not cancer anyway...

Surgery completed. Mission accomplished!

Is a lump behind the nipple normal for gynecomastia? it's grown (and shrunk at times too) since it first started.

Yeah, that's the glandular tissue. It's what distinguishes real gyno from fake gyno (i.e. just fat).
It requires surgery to get rid of. You can lose the fat around a breast through diet etc, but you can't lose the glandular tissue this way.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my questions, I appreciate it :) I've been nervous for a while but I figured if it was cancer I'd probably have been dead by now or pretty sick so I kinda figured it was something else but you know sometimes you have that thought in your head that won't go away.

Start saving up or if you got the cash, do a bit of research for a experienced surgeon around your area and go for it! you'll be dead chuffed with the results, especially because you got a more severe case :)

No problem. The only reason I come to this site now is to help people now.

As for thinking it was cancer, when I was about 12 or 13 I was CONVINCED my gyno was cancer. I thought it was a manifestation of something like testicular cancer, not sure why I believed that, but I figured I would rather die - literally rather die - than tell people about my gyno.

...I didn't die anyway. I'm alive and kicking. I got the surgery.

Like I said in my original post I've been working on losing weight and lost about 20 lbs so far in less than a month but it's going to be a while before I reach my goal realistically. I just wanted to get opinions as to if this was Gynecomastia. I don't think I'd try to have any kind of surgery until I reached my goal weight and see what kind of issues I'm dealing with at the time.

20 lb/s in a month ... fair play, but realistically if you want to lose weight healthily, without a lot of excess skin your looking at "minor" changes in your diet and eating more healthily, to drop around 2lb/s of weight a week until you hit plateu and can't go no further.

Don't ever try losing A LOT OF WEIGHT as quickly as possible ... you will look skinny, but like your on crack!

well thats hard to say, I wish I had a before picture but it was fat enough to be out of breath within a quarter mile of running lol. but id say i was around you area....start off by literally jogging...do the 1 2 3 4 in your mind and you can go farther that you think....it teaches you disipline...you also need some supplements, for weightloss like atrophex...and thatll help motivate you....good luck.

Oh yeah I know about that, it's just when you have a lot to lose and you first start it comes off quickly at the beginning. I cut my calories quite a bit but I also do work out and do cardio, upper body 4 days a week and cardio 6 days a week for 90 minutes
