Do I have it?
Rate mine.
Do I need surgery?
Can this be normal?
Am I bigger than average?
How common (or rare) is it?
How did I get this disease?
How effective is the XXX pill?
Etc. Etc. Etc.

Gynecomastia is for the most part, for better or worse, a self diagnosis. With that in mind, if you're here you have it.

Rating systems serve their purposes, but here they are really quite meaningless. The only ratings that have any meaning are yours. Your condition is either tolerable or it is not. What anyone else here thinks should not influence you to a great extent.

Unless you have some pathology of the breast (which is rare) you don't "need" surgery. For many who frequent these pages surgery is highly desireable. It is a personal matter that you alone can decide.

I'd like to think that we are all normal. Certainly the statistics would indicate that we are. Normal is not a point, but a range and we are on one end of that range. Very few of us have breasts large enough to be considered abnormal.

Average is a funny term. by its very definition, there is no such thing as "Average". Half of everything is above average and the other half is below average. Presumably all of us here have breasts of above average size or we would not be here. Should the guys with less than average size breasts get implants to make things even? That would raise the average! This term should be banned from the site.

How common the condition is depends upon which liar you find to be the most convincing. 30% is a figure commonly used which I think may be close. The surgery to reduce the size of men's breasts is one of the most common of elective surgeries. What does that tell you?

Gynecomastia is NOT a disease. In most cases the precise cause is not known. And, what difference does it make? Either deal with it or get rid of it.

Various medications have limited success in a small number of "selected" cases. In short, if you've Had it for any length of time it is probably stabilized and the pills will shrink only your wallet.

The same questions keep being asked over and again. Sometimes it does get tiring. But, that is why this site is here so keep the questions coming. If some of us old timers get a bit of a short fuse, please be patient with us and We will try to be equally patient with you.

good reminders.  of course the reason so many people ask is that they've often been told by the ignorant it's just in your head, it's nothing, but somewhere inside they know it wasn't.  it's easy to forget the best place for questions like that is the photos part of the board, but stumbling across a board like this will always be a big revelation when you thought you were the only guy in the world that had it.

Sometimes I think we need to remind ourselves that people come here because they want information and/or they are hurting psychologically.

Speaking for myself, it is sometimes a bit too easy to answer in a sarcastic way. I've caught myself doing that more times than I'd care to admit. If I have offended anyone in that way, I'm truly sorry.

In reality, the only stupid question is the one not asked.
