On a routine annual physical I asked my doctor about my fatty chest. He examined them and said it wasn't gynecomastia and said he didn't feel breast tissue. Just fat.
Regardless- I have gynecomastia. Something aint right!

So as much as I'd like to jump to a plastic surgeon and get these tiny traffic cone shaped breasts sliced off my chest- I want to do things in the right order and get down into it with why this happened. Can I prevent it from coming back. Find out if there is an underlying issue that causes fat deposits on my chest, and why I have large love handles and a little gut with thin other body parts.

That being said- where should I start? Who can examine my physical appearance, realize fat isn't being distributed even near evenly, and test me for any kind of hormonal imbalances or thyroid issues- anything like that.

What should be my plan of attack to make sure everything is covered so I can get on track to a flatter midsection with minimal scarring and extremely low to NO chance of reoccurrence.

THANKS!

The doctor will test for hormonal problems is you ask them too, otherwise there are companies that do it online (not sure if they are trustworthy but they exist)

If the problem is hormonal i.e. a testosterone/estrogen imabalance you should notice other symptoms such as poor facial hair distribution, lack of sex drive etc (google it, there are many)

If it's just a case of stubborn fatty tissue to be lypo'd then it shouldnt come back. There are only a certian number of fat cells in your body (once you have fully matured). When your body fat goes up the existing cells will swell, and when you lose weight they shrink. Once they are removed that's it, fat can't go back there. End of.

However, bare in mind that you cannot remove every last fat cell. For one you will look like a right idiot, all out of balance. And two it's surely impossible!? So when the lypo is done theyre will be fat cells in the target area remaining. Major swings in weight will cause fat to go back there and perhaps recreate the problem.

Live healthy, and keep active after the surgery and you should be fine.

P.S. I'm not suggesting your overweight or anything, but stubborn have you tried the gym and a strict diet? You may find that you can get rig of the fat if you cut down enough, and if you work the upper pecs you may be able to even out the problem? Before I had surgery I trained for well over a year and massively improved the problem, unfortunately it wasnt quite good enough for me so I had surgery!

Good luck!

The problem existed for many years, it's just gotten worse with age and weight gain.
I'm pretty sure the fat around my problem areas won't get to a reasonable amount without some sort of medical treatment. There has always been more fat there than anywhere else.

I guess my question is- should I go straight to a PS or are there other doctors who I should see first? Someone who can check to see if there are underlying issues...

Sorry to contradict you, but it will.

I had stubborn fats around my chest, that didn't go until i virtually had a six pack and was at round 10% bf. I lost four stone to do it..... that's when I realised it wasn't just fat (as the hard lump was visible and moobs looked worse) so I bulked up a stone and booked surgery for gland to be removed.

If your body needs more calories that its getting you will eat yourself. The body struggles to break down the fats into glycogen if they are low in beta receptors (I think that's what they are called, it's been a while since I've read such publications articles) and/or oestrogen (which encourages fat retention), these are the area's which you have stubborn fats, in your case- chest. The area's high in beta receptors/oestrogen will reduce at a much higher rate that those without, which is why people think they will never go. But once the body gets it a certain bf it will have no choice but to begin to eat the fat in these area's. The fat in these area's will be a lot tougher to get rid of, but if you stick at it they will go.

There are things you get rid of these fats more easily e.g. avoid alchohol (raises oestrogen), dont drink water from the tap (been linked to the beta receptor thing). Also when you go to the gym, which you will need to do, use as many heavy compound lifts as possible (these are lifts that use multiple muscles simultaneously) because they raise natural testosterone levels (which is oestrogens kryptonite!)

I could go on indefinitely about this, but I would recommend reading body building literature. IMO, they know better than anyone on nutrition and body sculpting.

If your still not convinced, then perhaps you can post a photo. I can assure you that you are an anomoly if your right.

Hopefully I've helped!

Once you get there, it's

100% agree with your advice gynogynoman. Go into calorie deficit, do heavy compound lifts, and you will maintain/gain muscle, while cutting fat. Perhaps get surgery if this does not get rid of it, but I reckon you may in fact have gyno as GPs are always brushing off this kind of condition, because its not "dangerous". So just go private and get a consultation from someone who actually specialises in it.

I appreciate your feedback, however like I said even when I was young and extremely thin I had excess fat deposits in these areas. They weren't as prominent as now, but there was more fat there then other parts of my body.

In other words- if I lost enough weight to get rid of all of the fat around my midsection and gynecomastia- I would look like a freaking skeleton.

Is anyone going to answer my question? I'm not ruling out busting my ass at the gym, but I want a doctor involved in my plan to rid this curse.

So if anyone has an answer to my question without drifting off into what they think I should do, that'd be great.

Anyone know of a doctor who specializes in gynecomastia in Dallas area?
