Hi everyone,
To make my case specific, I'm a 19 year old male who's been suffering from what i believe to be true gynecomastia (fibrous lumps below the nipple) for the last 5-6 years. I'm 5'11 and 170 pounds, in what i believe to be great shape, and generally pretty healthy (aside from the occasional herbal self-medication and those damn marlboros). My affliction has caused significant discomfort in social settings to the point where i haven't worn just a regular t-shirt (without undershirt or beater) for as long as i can remember. The problem is magnified intensely during the summer months, as I'm very active socially and tend to find myself hiding the body that I'm otherwise very proud of from my close friends. It gets worse in intimate settings-- when the heat turns up, so does the size and irregular shape of my nipples. I've honestly had about all I can take with this issue, and was wondering if you guys think that surgery is my only option. Pictures below

i wouldn't worry too much about it...right now.  you and I have pretty much the same stats.  I'm 5'11 and for most of my twenties was always fluctuating between 165-175.  I turned 30 over the summer, and just kind of got into my "adult body", which is means now I weigh between 178-185.  All i can say, is that mine bothers me a lot more now than when i was your age.

But if it really bothers you now, get the surgery.  from my perspective, it doesn't look bad, so you might be able to hold it off for a few years if you follow good workout regime. But if I could go back, I would have gotten my surgery before my twenties.  I finally scheduled mine for november 1st, and refuse to throw away my thirties because of this.  You're a young guy, get it done if it bothers you that much.  why worry about this condition when you should be having fun.
