Desperate to get surgery but i don't want to be a dummy. What are some experienced thoughts?

The only real enticement about surgery abroad is the reduced fee.

Counter that with the fact that you have never met the surgeon and you do not have any idea about the quality of the facility in which the surgery will be performed.  You will probably have very little follow up with your surgeon since you will be returning to the US.  If something does go wrong with the surgery, you either have to return or you may have difficulty finding a US surgeon willing to clean up someone else's problems.  And finally, if something really goes wrong, you have no legal redress against the surgeon.

Think of it and then decide if saving a few bucks is worth it.

Yes thanks i have thought of all that too. I also found it funny after i stopped emailing the costa rica doctors they still keep emailing me trying to book me an appointment, don't know if they were being nice or just over persistent seemed a little unusual. Thanx for the replies
