Hi, so im new to this site so excuse me if i post this in the wrong section.

Ever since i was about 15 i noticed i had larger breasts than all the other guys in high school. At first i thought i was just a muscle bound young lad that developed larger muscles because i was overweight as a kid, then when i lost most of the fat i still seemed bigger and stronger than the other kids. My breasts pretty much stayed like that for a while until i was about 18. Im now 21 and i have started to notice that as i lose kgs and more fat to cut down my body weight, the only part of my body that doesn't shrink is my chest. It stays the same. I do lift chest weights but it seems to make it more pronounced so i only do pushups and mild weight lifting for pecs. I have noticed fpr about 2 years aswell that i actually have lumps all through my chest, and when i tense i can feel the difference between the muscle and the other layer which is all lumpy. They almost feel like little beans under my skin, well thats what i refer to them as. I have noticed that i do have this in some other places in my body but its only like 3-4 lumps in each body part.

Anyways, after 2 years of not being able to lose them i decided to go to the family doc last weekend and get it checked out. He said that i was a pretty solid kid (im 21 now) but he did think that i had gyno and after having a little feel he said that he couldn't feel any glands but he felt the lumps and said i had a case of mild medical gynocomastia. He said i shouldn't suffer and referres me straight to his favourite surgeon.

Today, i went to see dr andrew jenkins in brisbane. After asking me a few of the usual basic questions he asked me to take my shirt off so i did. He had a look and a little feel and said he couldn't feel any lumps and that i was just a muscle bound young guy that should be proud of his big chest. I know he was wrong because i can feel lumps and i told him that but he said i just have a tiny layer of fat underneath them, even though its about an inch thick of lumps. He said it was nothing to worry about and be proud of my chest. He also said that if i do have surgery i will definately have concaved nipples and it wasn't worth the surgery to get a little fat removed. Im awfully confused as some of my friends actually call me fat even though i have a 4 pack with little fat only because my chest sticks out and i think i have gyno and even my doc did, but within 5 minutes the surgeon was just like nah your sweet its all in your head

Should i go to another surgeon and get a second opinion? Ive seen pictures of people on the internet with smaller cases of gyno than i think i have and there surgery turned out fine. Also my chest is asymmetrical, left side is bigger than the right by a little bit. Also when its cold an my nipple goes hard my chest looks fine but when its warm it looks like i have boobs, even though i dont have puffy nipples.

Thank you for your time.

Cheers for your reply, i know that was alot to read haha. So did you just go and see a cosmetic surgeon and he told you he'd do it? My family has quite a bit of wealth so money never really was a concern. I will upload some photos after i finish work today

I am in the US. Southern California to be more precise.

Obviously I do not know the Doctors involved so I hesitate to be too critical of their judgement. Even so there are some possibilities worh looking into.

Regarding the Surgeon, Is he a General Surgeon or a Cosmetic surgeon with a significant amount of experience in Gynecomastia. If the former, then you should see a specialist before accepting his judgement. If the latter, then I think you should accept the opinion of the surgeon though a second opinion might be of benefit.

In spite of the cost of the referral, surgeons do not actually make any money from the office, their profit comes from what they do in the operating room. The surgeon, regardless of his specialty, has been honest with you. They cannot do you any good. If you try a Gynecomastia specialist you may or may not get a very different opinion.

We tend to be our own worst enemies and often pass judgement on ourselves unfairly. Whether this is the situation in your case or not is something that we could only guess.

For now, try to keep an open mind.

I say you should get a second opinion. Think about it this way - you know your body best, your family doctor agrees with you and most of all it takes something bad enough for a man to go and get his "boobs" felt by doctors, I know it took me years and years.....

If it stops you from doing things you want to do and inhibits your confidence, definitely worth a shot going to a different surgeon and do post pics, you will get more replies....
