i had gynecomastia 4 months ago, and to tell you the truth i am not impressed, for the money i paid. feel a large hard lump under chest, don't know if its scar tissue or residual gland. there is an improvement however, but not worth the money i paid. i was supposed to take pictures at my 4 month post op, doctor said we should wait 2 months to reevaluate. has anyone else experienced this?

I'm having the surgery on Monday so can't comment on actual results. What I've been told by my surgeon is to expect a roller coaster ride during the healing and he won't consider the results to be 'final' until about nine months. I'd say that if this is a problem by that time then revisions may be necessary.

I am at 8 months. You do need to make it to 6 months I think to judgement. I did get some results (60-70% of desired), and feel better about myself, but like you I feel I did not get the results I wanted or paid for.

My surgeon is decent, well known, respected guy - who stated from the onset if I was not happy, he would revise for a minor fee. This put me at ease before and after the surgery.

What is your guys's policy on revision?

an update...

I went to a dermatologist, and am glad to say what I have now is nearly 2 centimeters of scar tissue in each chest. The dermatologist didn't suspect any residual gland, just scar tissue. I am going to my plastic surgeon in december to get steroid or kenalog injections.

I'm venting, the physician assistant who I spoke to at the dermatologist office who said I had 2 centimeters of scar tissue was talking about my external scars from liposuction. I saw the actual dermatologist, and guess what, I have residual gland. The dermatologist said I do not have scar tissue, what he felt was residual gland. I knew my chest could not be this big from just having scar tissue. My surgeon did not take out enough gland. Any advice for me now? I'm speaking to my surgeon next week about this...

Dude im in the same boat,I just had a consultation with a more experienced gyno surgeon with pics and everything. He told me I still have gland. He wants 5 grand for cost and hospital fee. I think the best thing for me to do is bite the bullet with a more experienced surgeon than to go back to the one that screwed it up in the first place!!! I just hate that im still dealing with this like I have money that grows on tree's. By the way the first did incision only so that lets you know he didnt know much about this procedure. My advise would be to not return to the guy that messed you up because he will charge you for revision, its better to pay more and be done with it.

I suspect that any Doctor who tells you they can positively identify Glandular tissue by feel is in the same league as any husband who claims to totally understand his wife. They will probably lie about other things too.

As to the presence of residual Gland, The obvious answer is that if you do not have an ugly crater deformity the surgeon left some gland behind to prevent that deformity.

Asking a Dermatologist about a surgical issue would be like asking a guy in the paint shop about an engine problem. You are talking to the wrong specialist and the answer is meaningless..

Yeah I kind of agree. I doubt my doctor would have left that much gland in my chest. I'm hoping it is scar tissue, and will proceed with cortisone injections soon.

Looking at some old before photos, and comparing them to some recent photos i took myself, i must say i am actually quite impressed! there is still scar tissue, but my chest has gone down in size considerably. i'm still going for kenalog injections and will post pics after i see the results of that as well.
