Hi guys... Long post, but if you live in glasgow then definately worth a read
I have not really posted much on this board but I have received a LOOOT of helpful advice.... Just had my op this morning so the least I can do is tell about my experience and hopefully help some else
)
Iv had boobies for as long as I can remember.....always used to think it was just fat and I was just unlucky...then I saw this programme on CHannel 4 about gyne and thats when I found this board and got the ball rolling..
AUG 2004
finally plucked up the courage to go and see my GP... Dr. Mckeanne in nithsdale road surgery in south Glasgow....great guy.... immediatley spotted I had gyne and that I was unhappy; he did a few checks and then referred me on to a breast cancer clinic..
OCT 2004
1st Hopital visit
At the western Infirmary...cant remember the geezers name but he was quite nice..took a biopsy and referred me onto a plastic surgeon
JUNE 2005
2nd Hospital visit
At the royal infirmary plastic surgery unit in Glasgow city centre... I saw a young spanish girl... Dr M Serra.... she was a nice person and kept the visit short but sweet...she had a feel of my boobies and told me that she thought that i needed lipo and possibly some touch up surgery if that didnt solve it...she said that it could take up to another 6 months for the op and that she was going to do it but for some reason that didnt happen and someone else did??
AUGUST 2005
3rd Hopital visit
I was contacted in July and told the op would take place in the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Canniesburn...and was given a choice of a couple of dates to attend....
First I went in for a preop assessment --> nurses were all realllllllly friendly and nice and very easy to talk to... they get a lot of gyne patients so theres no embarassment in talking about it with them..
Had the surgery today ---> again alll the nurses were absolutley fantastic and made me feel at ease and were very sympathetic...
My Dr was a
Mrs Dominique Davidson --> i met her in the morning and had a chat.... seemed like a great Dr and again very sympathetic to my problem and seemed very eager to get perfect results ---> seemed like a very caring doctor
The hospital is an Ex-private hospital that the NHS bought for some reason so it is absolutely shit hot!!! got my own room with a river view, tv with sky, on suite bathroom and a nice electric bed
)
I went in for 11am this morning an after various cheks - blood pressure etc... the Dr came in and had a good feel and drew big circles around my boobies... got prepped and went down for surgery...before i knew it I was put under GA and then awake again with an absolutely aching chest and a huge tubigrip wrapped around me...got some painkillers and was shipped back to my private room......got some munchies and watched some telly....I was feeling quite good so thankfully the Dr let me go home the same day rather than spenging the night....
I am supposed to keep the tubigrip on for the next week and then go for a review and then wear my compression vest 24/7 for 3 months..... even though the grip is quite tight i can still tell that I am very swollen.finger crossed i get good results
Il post some pics in a week or so
So far my NHS experience has been great.....Hope this info is helpful
