I responded to that post...not sure if my post was one of the good ones you referred to or not.  I'm not a doctor and everything below is my opinion (but is based on some personal experience and reading).
There is only one way you'll ever know if the rubbery lumps are going to go away without surgery: make change and assess the results.  You need to find the cause, anyhow, before you take surgical corrective action (as I understand it, it doesn't seem like doctors can get ALL of the gland - see cavity deformation and Dr. comments about physically not being to get it all - and it seems that the lumpy material can form and grow rapidly).  Men aren't supposed to have boobs; there's a cause that you need to find.
Get your hormone levels checked (testosterone, estrogen, prolactin).  If any come up abnormal (or at the extreme end of the huge normal zone that the medical community uses) see an endocrinologist.
Stop all drugs and supplements that have been liked to gynecomastia.  Stop all supplements that affect hormones and any that you are not sure of (as to whether they affect hormones).
Get lean (abs showing kind of lean) if you are not already and stay that way for months.
Take inventory of any changes you've made in your lifestyle since this started: food, cosmetics especially.  Eliminate those changes.
If you don't want to take all of these steps/efforts, change the things you are willing to change.  Assess continually.  Did the gyno stop advancing?  Reverse a little?  Reverse entirely?
