I've read about local and general anesthesia, specially what Crunch sayd about his op.
I'll get my op next monday and my anesthesiologist will make a Peridural anesthesia.
This is a very good procedure (in my opinion). It's safe and block all the pain, becouse the anesthesic is introduced right in the space inside the vertebra, where the nerves carry the pain information to the brain.

Epidural (or peridural) anesthesy is well used during childbirth.
Recently, my wife had beast cancer and had to get a mastectomy.  :-[
Her surgery was made with epidural anesthesia, and the catheter still in for two days after, keeping her away of any pain, although she was able to move, walk and so.
Last week, she got in surgery room again. This time, to make her breast reconstitution (first step).
Again, she got on epidural anesthesia.
