when does swelling subside after lipo/extraction surgery for level 1(puffy nipples) gynecomastia? At what point do you know if it's scar tissue developing or swelling under the incision?

It is very difficult to reply to your question because there are so many variables:  the size of your gynecomastia, the type of surgery, the methods employed by your surgeon, the type/extent of the dressings, whether you have followed the post op recommendations of the surgeon, and how long it has been since surgery.

In general, swelling will occur -- and it changes almost daily so that each side may temporarily be different from the other side.  Swelling may last 6-8 weeks or even longer.

Best to speak to your surgeon, who knows exactly what was done and can provide the best answer for you.

It usually takes about three months for nearly all of the swelliing to resolve. During this time I generally instruct my patients to massage which helps to reduce scarring that can cause some thickening.
