how long can i expect to be out of work after surgery. I do have a moderately physical job. A package delivery driver.

It all depends on your doctor's instructions - one she or he can determine that based on your treatment.  My job is not physical at all, but I am taking the surgery week (now) as sick time and am then working from home the following week.  I not allowed to drive for the first week, and my Dr also said that I can't pick up anything heavier than 7 lbs for at least a month.  But that's my doctor and my story.  Yours may be different.
