Today I just got back from my second consultation with a PS in the Seattle area. The first surgeon said because i am rather lean and have little body fat he would use excision to remove my gyno due to the fact it is glandular. However, the second PS said he would be able to remove it all with ultrasound liposuction. Is it possible to remove glandular tissue with ultrasound liposuction?

i would go with excission instead of lipo. just my 2 cents. i didn't have any hard tissue--mainly soft soft--and i got excission (tomorrow will be post-op day 6) and so far i'm very happy with everything.  most people here who get lipo only are NOT happy with their results. that seems to be the pattern that i've noticed, anyway.

why does it seem so many PS don't do excission, rather they use liposuction? Does it take more skill to do excission vs. lipo?

yeah, it does take more skill, i think. but also lipo alone is cheaper  than excision or lipo/excision combo. a lot of ps's recommend it to their patients if they (the patients) are really worried about the costs, i think. my ps said "hey, i can do lipo or excision. if i do lipo it will be cheaper than excision but i would prefer to do the exicision because if i cut it out then i'm pretty sure you won't have to worry about it again". soooo, i thought to myself...why pay less for lipo and risk not being happy or having to come back and do it all again later? sooooo, i went for excision.

  • GYNO IS A BIATCH!
Dude.... get the excision. Yesterday was my 3rd time under the knife because my PS wanted to try lipo only!!!  Well finally he did an excision... and told me that even though he felt no glandualar material before the surgery.... he certainly found some yesterday... Is all gone now!

Get the EXCISION

 rocketrob and bradley07,

Thanks so much for your input, what you guys told me just help reassured what i was thinking. This was my first time posting and it was very helpful. I have scheduled my surgery for 12/19, (with the PS who recommended excision) i can hardly wait.

congrats. you'll be so happy you had it. immediately after the surgery you may have doubts when you feel sore, swelling, fluid, etc. but just remain confident. you'll be soooooo happy that you did it. trust me. good luck! p.s. the surgery is a piece of cake. you'll feel a little sore and "out of it" for a few days but it's nothing. trust me. good luck! and congrats!  ;D

I would agree with excision as being the wisest choice.
