White areas around incision site

I'm 3 weeks post op with an areola reduction. The Dr said I could take off the steristrips because I won't see if for another 2 weeks. I have had them off for about 3 days know and noticed white areas around the incision site. It looks like its still fresh. I'm putting back on some more steristrips. I don't think it's quite healed yet. Do you think this is a good idea??
