Well, i've had the gyne for about 3 years now, and i've had to start taking a few depression medications for it, because it causes thoughts of suicide, and self mutalation (for the nip), i would do nearly anything for the surgery, i just don't have the money. i've spent everyday looking for a way to get rid of it, but  have come up empty handed every time, i do a fairly fine job of hiding it, and the few who noticed, i've threatened there very existence they never tell, and its worked so far. but if there is a simpler way to get rid of it, or some old rich guy who has alot of money to blow, for kids like me, i just want to get rid of it, i'd do anything. if you done anything that you might think got rid of it please tell me..

Sorry to say but basically your only option is surgery.  If you're old enough to get a job, get one and work all summer and I'm sure by then you should be able to afford surgery, esp. if you work as a waiter or something that can make a tip.

You do not reveal your age,  or the relationship of your height and weight; Which could make a big difference.  It could be that you are a bit young yet or may need to lose some weight before surgery.  Or perhaps your are a prime surgical candidate.  How could anyone know?

Neither do you mention any medical Insurance.  This too is an important issue.

You do tell of contemplating suicide and/or self mutilation.  Both of these are indicators of BDD. (Body Dysmorphic Disorder) Meaning that you have become obsessed with your breasts.  It does not mean that you do not have a real problem even though some people seem to think that.  You confide that you have been prescribed anti-depressants.  Further indication of BDD.

There are two things you need to do, and they could be done concurrently.  See an Endocrinologist who specializes in reproductive hormones.  See a psychologist.

These two specialists will help you in many ways,  The endocrinologist can establish whether you have an underlying hormonal problem and whether your are physically mature enough to be a good surgical candidate.  The Psychologist can evaluate the effect that your gynecomastia is having on you in an emotional sense.  Letters and recommendations from both of these doctors will often get surgery approved by insurance companies that would otherwise deny the surgery.

Even if you do not have Medical Insurance, you should see both doctors for your own peace of mind.  It is possible that they may be able to get you help in other ways.

Most important, do not attempt to self medicate! You have little chance of success but a large chance of screwing up your reproductive hormones.  No gambler would bet on those kinds of odds whereas you would be gambling with your health.

Keep in touch,  I wish you well.

Getting the surgery at 15 may not be a bright idea, considering that your body is probably still developing a lot and the gyne could also still be developing.  Wouldn't want to remove it to have it come back soon after.  Anybody else have any thoughts?  Maybe get your hormones checked to make sure they're ok first, at least.

  • Wilma, grab the lotion, we're going to the beach!
ihate - be careful what you wish for. you know, offering to do anything for some old guy who has a lot of money to "blow.''

If you're on antidepressants, that's could be a good thing. Afterall, if it keeps you from doing something stupid, it's doing its job. I'd especially encourage you to see an endocrinologist as the increase in serotonin caused by the antidepressants may decrease dopamine levels which can increase prolactin and lead to worse gyne.  Gyne is a possible side effect to antidepressants. Not everyone gets it, the number is very low, but the way I see it, guys like us are more prone to gyne and may be the one who gets it.
