Hi,
I had my surgery on 4 August 2007 with dr Sammy Malhas in Dublin Ireland. Its now 10:04am on 6 August and my first morning home alone after the surgery (BTW I'm 32).  I just have a few questions you guys might be able to help me out with.
How long after surgery did you feel safe to drive? I am nervous at the moment of making sudden movements in case I tear or rip something.
I notice in some diaries guys having showers etc after surgery. I was told not to shower or bath and keep the compression bandage on at all times, is this normal?  For those of you advised not to shower or bath how did you manage?
I work in an office and due to work pressures I have to go back to work on 9 & 10 August, and then again from 13 August as I have a series of meetings to go to, should this be OK?  What did you tell work was wrong with you for example if the compression bandage is noticed?
I currently feel no real pain and am due to go back to get the dressings changed on 9 August, also I have to get the stitches removed, is this generally painful?
I am due to fly to the UK for 2 nights on 25 August and to Europe on 5 September on my own, is this advisable or should I cancel?
Any advice appreciated.

I had mined done on the 2nd of August. I was ok to drive after 48 hours. Yea for the first few days I would not do to much movement to let everything heal as well as it can. I had a shower after 24 hours but had to put water proof plasters over the cuts. I am not saying this is what you should do as I did not have stitches. You may be different to me. Your meetings should be fine and I would where a dark shirt and you could say you have put your back out and you have a support on. Most people will not know any better. Not sure flights but I would think these will be fine.
