A few questions!  :)

OK so from the beggenning I guess...

I'm 19 years old now, and i live in the UK. I have had gynecomastia (relativly mild i think) for many years now. I have not told my doctor or any of my family. I am at a point in my life now where I want surgery, so I can be free from this and get on with my youth!

Does anyone know if I would first need to discuss this with my GP? I understand that I could get the surgery possibly on the NHS, but to be honest I was thinking about going abroad (maybe USA) to have the opperation done by a reputable surgeon. It would mean using part of my years student finances, but I can stretch it, and I would feel more comfortable with a gynecomastia specialist.

How much could the price be? Baring in mind I would need to stay in the country for a few days at least.

Also, can you just go to a plastic surgeon for a consultation without any previous doctor refferences? and what can I expect the surgeon to do prior to surgery? (blood tests, examinations, etc??)

anyone's thoughts on anything I have said would be great!

thanks.

Going to a Plastic Surgeon is completely discreet ... you can keep it on the low.

However, I went through the NHS route first to be told to fcuk off a year later ..

And then, I made my mind up to go to Levick who will now be operating on me this week Friday at the cost of just under £4000.

Im 20, so also using student finances and borrowing cash of my dad until I can pay him back later this year.

If you want the op done by a good surgeon for cheap and abroad go to Poland. You can get it done for like £2000 and also have a holiday their.

I haven't got the balls to leave this country for surgery so im paying that 2 grand extra for this live-changing op.

im in the same position as you im 19 and at uni and planning to get an op done. i have decided to go to poland in december just before xmas once uni has broke up. i would suggest you consider looking at poland it considerably cheaper around 1500 and i have heard alot of good things from them. also the seem very helpfull and professional.with that price it includes a nights stay among other things. umm i know the cause of my gynecomastia so i dont realy need bloodwork testing however i would suggest if you didnt know the cause that you get your bloodwork done in order to fix the problem and make sure it doesnt return again.
