What are they used for and where can you get them?

The foam pads have the ability to conform to the shape of your chest and give total compression at the surgery site.

I'm not sure. They may sell something similar. You could probably make your own though.

No, just soft foam (not too soft).

Have a look at my post-op photos.  Those two rectangular things underneath my vest are the foam pads.
