In an effort to demonstrate what really goes on during my approach to gynecomastia surgery I have created an animation that explains it in a very easy to understand way. I hope you will find it useful in giving you an idea of how the procedure works.  Please understand that other surgeon's may have their own techniques.

nice basic simple introduction to the concept, and i'm a fan of keeping youtube stuff fairly short. 

actually, i almost wish against the odds that this clip would get seen by the non-competent ps's out there (okay, cosmetic surgeons really) so they could take note of the basic gyne technique here and stop doing some of those horrible medieval slash scars on those unfortunate enough to have crossed their path

nicely done, is there always a little gland left? if so will it regrow, that would be tragic for post surgery.

Breast tissue growth most likely does not come from preexisting breast tissue. It comes from stem cells that convert to breast tissue due to hormonal stimuli and possibly other stimuli that we are not sure of. It is very important to leave some breast tissue behind else you may end up with a retracted nipple.

So, would an adolescent have more chance of regrowth since they are still having a lot of hormone issues?

It is highly unlikely that your gynecomastia would return. Keep in mind, the vast majority of the breast tissue is removed. I have treated several patients who have been referred to me for OVER CORRECTION of gynecomastia with resulting large divot right under the nipple. This is a MUCH bigger problem than the gynecomastia itself. The biggest reason to go to a gyneomastia surgeon with experience is for him to know not only how much to take out but how much to leave behind.
