IT`S DONE, NO MORE MOOBS!  hahah
Just had my gyne surgery yesterday with Dr. Fielding :)    thought i'd try and keep you all updated with my progress. I'm planning to update this thread for as long as possible, including posting updates well beyond the time it takes for the wounds to heal (ie. 1, 2 year post op).

At the hospital.....

Yesterday went off without a single hitch......had my surgery scheduled for 745am, arrived at the hospital at 6am  (yikes!). Didn't spend much time waiting as others have had to do in the past....maybe it was because I requested a very early surgery time?  most likely, i say :)

Came out of surgery in a daze.....had no idea what was going on.....strange enough, I came to when I thought/dreamt I puked.....turned out I actually did, when the anesthetist pulled the air tube out of my throat, I heard. hahah should have warned the docs I have a very weak stomach!  Apart from that hiccup, I was feeling fine....my throat was sore as hell...maybe due to the air tube they had to shove down my air pipe.....ugh

Fun fact...I smoke weed daily (don`t smoke cigarettes though)....so when I was asked by the anesthetist if I smoke, I confirmed  (I don`t hide that sort of info from my docs). He looked a bit annoyed, but I stood firm....the instructions from Dr. Fielding said to not eat, drink or ingest anything from midnight to the time of the surgery...I followed that to the letter. Add to that, Dr. Fielding himself seeming not to care at all when I told him during our consult months earlier.   Later on, I heard the anesthetist said he was almost ready to cancel the surgery. hahah....my god...some people are waaaaaay too old school.

Dr. Fielding had a resident join him......for those who don`t know, Dr. Fielding is a lecturer at UofT....he`s the one teaching new plastic surgeons about this procedure....if that doesn`t speak volumes about his skills, then I don`t know what does!!

The recovery period right after the surgery was interesting.......I felt little to no pain (discomfort, most def!) so I was given no painkillers the 3 hours I was laying in surgery daycare (where they place you after the surgery). I was given a prescription for 30 Tylenol 3s when I was discharged.

At Home...........

It was almost at the very second I stepped through my front door that I started to feel pain.....slight, piercing pains....so i took a T3 and everything was fine. I took a few minutes to examine my vest. I had quite a bit of blood & fluids seeping out from my right side - about 50% more than my left. But overall, everything looked fine.

I spent the rest of the night in and out of sleep, surfing the web, and watching T.V.  Somehow found the strength to make a big platter of nachos...hahaha...I ate the whole thing! :)

Now, as I type this, i`m on day 2.....my chest feels fine.....a bit of pain, but nothing a T3 can`t fix :)   What I do notice now is a fair bit of itchyness around the vest, but that`s to be expected. I have my first post-op appt with Dr. Fielding next Tuesday....from reading other surgery accounts, I assume he`ll be taking off my vest, pads and bandages at that time....oh man, I cannot wait to see my new chest!!!!!!

Pics.....I would love to show pics, before and after, but i have quite a few tattoos, so i`d rather not...someone might recognize them :)  - as is the case with others, this is a very private chapter in my life.

just had my 1 week checkup with Fielding......

wow....my chest is unbelievable!  he did such a great job.....if there was any doubt about what he could accomplish for me, it flew out the door the moment he pulled the pads off!

There is still quite a bit of swelling all over the place, but much more pronounced on the right side. He advised to keep the vest on another 2 wks, and then schedule a check-up with him in 3 month's time.  Also noted I could get back to exercise in about 2-3 wks.

All in all the last week has been pretty uneventful....all I had to deal with was some pain and itchyness, but overall, a piece of cake. Oh, and not being able to have a shower really bugged me (as soon as I got home from seeing him today guess what i did??). I stopped taking my Tylenol 3s a few days ago, which gives me only 4-5 days where I was using it regularly.

Also tried on a T-shirt over my new chest...OMG.....looks perfect...couldn't be happier right now :)

^^Thanks, bro! :D

Here's my 2 wk update...

The swelling has gone down considerably.....only thing left is a bit of soreness around all of the incisions, and of course soreness around the lipo'd areas. I'm also starting to REALLY find this vest annoying.....is it possible to only wear it when i'm at home and sleeping?? more so, I dunno if it's doing any good, as swelling is much less of an issue now. It's a pain in the butt when i'm at work....just doesn't jive with my work clothes (fitted dress shirts).

Apart from that, everything is good. I am using Polysporin on all the incisions....i'll prolly stop that this weekend and then move onto liquid vitamin E oil (to help reduce the appearance of the scars - i'm dark skinned, so bruises show up really well compared to lighter skinned people).

There ARE some odd things i've noticed with the work Fielding did, but I believe it's MUCH too soon to form any sort of conclusion as to how my chest will finally look as it's still so early in the healing process.

Things i've noticed:

-  lots of hard (to the touch) areas under the area where he did the lipo.....feels like plastic sheets under my skin...LOL ...I guess this is scar tissue forming??   anyone know how long this will last?

- the incision on the left side of my ribs seems to not be healing as cleanly as the right...it's more rough to the touch

- the incisions on my left areola seemed a bit more loose than on the right side......the outcome is that you can see a smalll sliver of flesh right at the junction of the areola and the skin.....no biggie....it'll heal up....just an odd sight to see at this point ;)

damn, I hate this vest!  hahah
