Well, doctors, this one is for you all.

I know that I have both, gyne, and varicocele. I have not yet been to the doctor. After my diagnosis, would you think that the varicocele would be repaired first?

Do any of the doctors here have experience with varicocele and gynecomastia in the same patient? Thanks for any input.

Also I have looked at two different techniques of varicocele surgery, does anyone know details about these? Again, thanks so much for any input.

well my understanding was that varicocele generally causes low testosterone, which can also lead to an increase in estrogen, right? Is this not related to development of gyne?

other than the fact that I believe the varicocele could be causing infertility and leading to my gyne, it does not bother me... (hah...)I just need the guts to get into the doctor. any advice for this anybody?

I too have a vericocele and am 99% sure that's what caused my gynecomastia.

Vericoceles can lower testosterone levels (as mine was, as soon as I got the vericocele my sex drive dropped off), and as we all know, low testosterone = gyno.

I've also read a study done in Germany that links the two. It's really quite obvious though, problems effecting the testicles can cause gyno, we know this.

Dr. Jacobs, a vericocele is not just a dilated vein, the valves on one of the main veins leading into the scrotum stop working. Disruptions in blood flow, even minor ones, to any organ will cause damage. Since the Leydig cells which produce testosterone are so tiny and delicate, even subtle damage to the Leydig cells can have an effect.

I am completely gyno free now, my chest is as flat as a board. I thought my gyno would come back because I still have the vericocele and low testosterone, but it's been two years now and it hasn't.

As I understand it, simply having lower Testosterone will shift the balance even if the Estrogen is not necessarily increased.

The various hormones do not work alone, but collectively.
