Hello, I have been lurking here for a long time. I am a 32 y/o male. I have been trying to decide if I wanted to move forward with my life and get the gyn surgery. And stop having to hide my chest from the world.
Briefly here is my story: Breast growth, and puffy nipples since early puberty. Weight loss and gain did not seem to have much effect on breast size. 5 years ago during a Uro visit to diagnose my long term bladder pain (diag: IC), dr. noticed the breasts and asked me if I ever tested my T level; nope. So it was tested and was in the 150 range. He put me on Androgel at that time, 5g daily. I asked him what was the cause, he said, we don't know.
A year ago I was not satisfied with not having a cause, so I went to an Endo. He ordered MRI on Pituitary, came back fine, he checked for Klinefelter's, negative. Ran some other blood tests, nothing. He basically told me he didn't know the cause either.
Several months ago, based on some internet reading I became concerned that I might have low sperm production from the Androgel, or just from the history of low T. Had test, and it came back 0.0! Shocking to say the least. We tested for causes for azoospermia (0.0 sperm count) and could not find a blockage, no retrograde ejac. Estrogen levels 12.6 (in normal range). So no answers there either.
My body features are very slim skeleton, small sloping shoulders, with a point in them, rounded hips, protruding pubic area, fat deposits on stomach, upper thighs, public area. I always felt my features were rather female in appearance except for my significant amount of body hair.
I am concerned that I have so much going on that is still not clear why, that if I have this surgery the breasts may grow back.
I went to see Dr. Jacobs in Dec 09. He told me I have gyn, but that I should be tested for Klinefelter's (done now), and Marfan's (can't get in for that testing until July... yes I put it off until now). My current T levels on Androgel are 400-500 I think.
I have really settled on getting the surgery in May with Dr. Jacobs, but since I live in the SW, this is going to be a significant trip that I have to plan with plane tix etc. I guess I am looking for anyone else's experience and thoughts on if I should go through with the surgery or put it off yet again.
