My surgery:  July 15th

Ok, it's finally over!  After 7 years of suffering Gyne I finally had my surgery today with Dr. Brown at Delta Hospital in British Columbia.  To start, I woke up at 7.a.m, and was really hungry, but I wasn't allowed to eat because of the surgery rules.  When we got to the hospital, I was quickly admitted, changed into my gown, and went to rest in my private little stall, waiting to be called into surgery.  This was the worst part of the whole thing, because i arrived at the hospital at 8:15 and the surgery didn't start till 11:30, more than 3 hours of waiting!  However, time passed quickly, because the nurse came and asked question and took my blood pressure, stuff like that.  Lying there for 3 hours wasn't really bad though, because i was tired from having woken up so early.

About half an hour before I got called in to the pre-op room, I woke up and started getting scared.  This was actually the only time when I felt physically ill, and the kind nurse waited beside me with a bucket, and patted my hand.  Finally, I heard the voice over the intercom system:    "Colin, please report to the operating room".  This was it, my problems were finally over.  In the pre-op, there was this old man, who was getting some kind of surgery on his privates.  He told me not to be afraid, and that I would do fine.  It was very reasurring.  Quickly, I was whisked away and Dr. Brown marked me up with a felt marker, and I was wheeled into the operating room. "DUH DUH DUH" (dramatic music plays here).

In the operating room, there were three nurses, my surgeon, and the anesthesioligist.  This was the part I was dreading, the I.V.  See, I'm absolutely terrified of needles, and I was more scared of that than the actual surgery.  Suffice to say, I was surprised, the surgeon was very kind and gentle, and the I.V didn't hurt one bit!  :)  Then, they strapped my arms down, and put on the gas mask.  It only smelled like fresh air..  The next minute, Dr. Brown was telling a joke, then the next thing I remember, i was fully awake in the post-op recovery bay!

Apparently, I'm not affected by the after effects on anesthesia at all, because i wasn't woozy or dizzy at all, and I could get up and walk to the bathroom only half an hour after.  After my tylenol three prescription was filled out at London Drugs, the hospital released me, and I left behind my Gyne problem forever.
