After typical gyne surgery most patients can return to sedentary types of work (at a desk, etc) within just a few days.  On the other hand, returning to heavy type of work (ie construction, digging, etc) would take a minimum of 3-4 weeks.  If you should resume work prior to that, there is a chance you could develop a hematoma (collection of blood under the skin) and definitely would develop additional swelling, which would prolong your healing time.

I was back at work (sales) within 4 days after surgery, still wearing my compression vest of course. I lifted weights at the gym after 4 weeks exactly.

Remember, if you do anything and it doesn't feel right, then it probably isn't so avoid it.

Hope this helps!
