in preparation for surgery in feb i had my blood test done at the hospital clinic.

This week i received a call to say i need to have another blood test done as my coagulation level is a bit lower than normal. So next week im gonna be having another blood test done at my GP and results faxed through to the clinic.
I have to say im worrying quite a lot about this though,
if the blood test result isnt an improvement will my surgery be cancelled or are there drugs that can be given to assist in the low levels mentioned (either pre or post op)?
Help appreciated.

There are a number of blood tests that contribute to evaluating the blood's ability to clot -- you have not told us which tests were low.

In general, if there is a question about coagulation, a surgeon will defer elective surgery for fear of having excessive bleeding during the operation.  It is better to get all blood parameters into the normal range before embarking on elective surgery -- surgery which can be done at any time.  Why take chances??

hi doctor, unfortunately i was not told which part of the test gave the lower results just that my ability to clot is a little lower than expected and advised to have another test done.
